Update on Title Sequence

Currently I have started the editing process on the title sequence and should finish the rough cut by next week. We have converted all the videos through MPEG Stream-clip and now I am working on Final Cut Pro to bring together all the clips, edit them and eventually to add the sound. I had one small hiccup with the footage as some clips were getting cut off in Final Cut Pro. To sort it out I had to reconvert the footage and now all of it is fine. Michael is currently designing the Logo for our film company, which we have decided to call Smile Production.

Film Log Review

The filming schedule we had went quite well. When we filmed in the office we managed to finish 30 minutes early, leaving us time to prepare for traveling and setting up in Welling High Street. Filming in the office, we realised of of our shots were more difficult then expected. The most difficult was placing a stack of work in front of the camera, covering the whole scene. This took multiple tires as the stack kept falling over and some of the scene was shown. We eventually was able to do it. Whilst up Welling, unfortunately, the camera died halfway through filming so we had to use what we had and possibly go up there another time to finish off filming; I also helped filming in Welling as well. We manage to keep to our time schedule when filming at Michael's house as well and got the shots we wanted, the only problem was the lighting as it was to dark which I hope to improve in final cut pro. Overall I think the day was a success and all we need to do now is edit it.

Location

As we have modified out tile sequence idea, we would now need a new location to film. For the office scene, we found two possible rooms to shoot in. The first scene was quite a large room with table and computers, out ideas for it was to move the table and keep a table and laptop in the centre to look like a work area. However on our way out we found a great office space which looks more 'lived in' so it would look more realistic for our sequence. We have decided we are going to use this room instead.

This was the first office we looked at.

This is the office space we have chosen.

Roles of Filming

Now we have finished our storyboard and animatics, all we need to do is make the title sequence. Below is a list of roles that is required to make the sequence and who is fulfilling them.

Cinematography- Michael
Director-Michael
Actress- Amina
Location Managers- Amina & Michael
Costume- Amina
Producers- Amina & Michael
Editors- Amina
Sound- Amina & Michael

Costumes

There is only one character in our title sequence and this is our main character, Louise Brown. In the title sequence, we have her in two locations, an office and in her home. The office scene and the streets of London, Louise will be wearing smart office wear or a blazer, blouse and pencil skirt. This shows that she is professional woman who takes her job seriously, even though she hates it. In the scene's where Louise is at home she will be wearing pyjamas as they show that Louise is a laidback person. The pyjamas will have no branding or motifs on them as that could make her look childish (i.e. Whinnie the pooh pyjamas) or could make her look like a higher/ lower class then she is (Gucci pyjamas shows she is upper-class).

Order of Credits

This is our proposed order of credits in the title sequence of the film. The reason why we have not included all of the typical credits in the film is that we want to show focus to the title sequence and not to the typography in the title sequence.

  1. Working Title studio logo
  2. 'Working Title Presents'
  3. Title of film 'The Journey of Self Discovery'
  4. Cast and crew 'Eva Myles' 'Cillian Murphy' 'Rubina Ali' 'Allen Leech'
  5. Producer/ director 'Richard Curtis'
