As we have modified out tile sequence idea, we would now need a new location to film. For the office scene, we found two possible rooms to shoot in. The first scene was quite a large room with table and computers, out ideas for it was to move the table and keep a table and laptop in the centre to look like a work area. However on our way out we found a great office space which looks more 'lived in' so it would look more realistic for our sequence. We have decided we are going to use this room instead.
Now we have finished our storyboard and animatics, all we need to do is make the title sequence. Below is a list of roles that is required to make the sequence and who is fulfilling them. Cinematography- Michael Director-Michael Actress- Amina Location Managers- Amina & Michael Costume- Amina Producers- Amina & Michael Editors- Amina Sound- Amina & Michael
There is only one character in our title sequence and this is our main character, Louise Brown. In the title sequence, we have her in two locations, an office and in her home. The office scene and the streets of London, Louise will be wearing smart office wear or a blazer, blouse and pencil skirt. This shows that she is professional woman who takes her job seriously, even though she hates it. In the scene's where Louise is at home she will be wearing pyjamas as they show that Louise is a laidback person. The pyjamas will have no branding or motifs on them as that could make her look childish (i.e. Whinnie the pooh pyjamas) or could make her look like a higher/ lower class then she is (Gucci pyjamas shows she is upper-class).
This is our proposed order of credits in the title sequence of the film. The reason why we have not included all of the typical credits in the film is that we want to show focus to the title sequence and not to the typography in the title sequence.
This is the final draft of the storyboards for the title sequence. We have changed this since the last storyboard draft because we believed that the previous storyboards would not work as it doesn't convey the feel good drama genre, boss shouting. This storyboard does fit the film and genre as it shows how Louise doesn't like her office job but it also shows how Louise got the idea of going to India and her preparing to go to India, and looks more light-hearted then previously.
This was our first draft for our title sequence idea showing the contrast of her mundane life and horrible experiences at work compared to her dream of traveling the world and deciding on India; as you can see near the end, her dream starts effecting her work and shows she is getting closer to it. However, this doesn't show the suffering she endues at work so we are going to add extras clips at the start to show her breakdown and finally deciding to get away and to live her dream.
The soundtracks we looked at for our title sequence are:
West Meets East
Chai Wallah
Vipassana
Bombay Remix 9
Bombay Beach
These are the soundtracks we have chosen that we think would fit our title sequence. We have chosen that the best one out of these is the Bombay Beach because of its uplifting nature and interesting twist of western music. The soundtrack had to fit the genre and themes of the film which we believe they do.
Now we have decided our film idea, we have now started looking at the typography for the credits and title of our film. we selected out top six favourite font as and asked fifteen people what one they thought best suited our genre and themes of our film. The most popular ones was the third font which we now going to uses for the typography of our film. We got the fonts from Dafont.com
The initial idea for our title sequence is to recall the actions of Louise in the morning to show her boring, mundane life in London. These images below are some of the set where my title sequence will be taking place (bedroom & bathroom). The first pictures are of the bedroom we plan to shoot our title sequence in, as the setting of our film is London city. This bedroom is set in greater London and you can see the building in London which shows it is a miserable place to be in (links to the narrative). however, we have decided not to shoot the film in this bedroom as it is too masculine for the main character. in stead we have decided to use a more feminine bedroom in Greater London instead so the bedroom matches the personality of the main character. Underneath the bedroom images is ones of a bathroom which is another setting for our title sequence. We think this bathroom is right for our sequence as it is basic and simple, which shows that Louise is a normal woman with basic necessities. Also, the room has a mirror which would be good to us in different shots to show the characters expressions more easily.
For my AS media coursework title sequence I am working with Michael knight to create a title sequence for a feel good drama. we have been heavily influenced by the following films: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller, US, 2013) Jerry Maguire (Carmon Crow, US, 1996) Forest Gump (Robert Zemeckis, US, 1994) film title Me and Michael have decided that the name of our film is going to be 'The Journey of Self-Discovery'. we have decided this name as it is the basis of the narrative, as the main character is on a journey to India, whilst finding herself and her purpose in life as well. Genre Feel-good drama Conventions to consider
Subplot of romance
Miserable/sad beginning
Happy ending
Main character following a path/ journey
Moral or character has learnt something
